Privacy
Your files
CourseFeed converts your files inside your browser, on your own device. Your files and the converted text are never uploaded: not to us, not to our advertising partner, and not to anyone else.
To do this, the site downloads a converter into your browser: Python and Microsoft's open-source MarkItDown, about 20 MB on your first visit. Your browser keeps a copy so later visits are faster.
The combined notes you see on the page are built in your browser. Copying or downloading them happens on your device. When you close or reload the page, they are gone.
Ads
CourseFeed is free because the main page and the guides show ads from Google AdSense. The Privacy, Terms, About and Why CourseFeed pages have no ads.
On pages with ads, Google's ad code runs in your browser. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent message before personalised ads are shown.
The ad code never receives your files: they are read only by the converter, on your device. But like any script on a web page, Google's ad code could technically read what is shown on the main page, including converted notes on screen. If you'd rather avoid that, an ad blocker works: CourseFeed works the same with one.
What we don't collect
There are no accounts and no sign-up. CourseFeed sets no cookies of its own. Apart from Google's advertising cookies (see Ads) and your browser's normal cache of the site's files, nothing is stored on your device. The site loads nothing from any company other than our host, Cloudflare, and, on pages with ads, Google.
We run no analytics of our own and keep no copies of your files or your notes. AdSense shows us totals such as ad views, clicks and earnings per page, without identifying anyone.
IP addresses
We don't collect or store IP addresses. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, sees your IP address when your browser downloads the site's files (see Hosting). On pages with ads, Google also sees it when your browser loads the ads.
Hosting
The site's files are hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare delivers the pages and the converter to your browser, so it sees your IP address and which of the site's files your browser requests, and handles that under its own privacy policy. If a page fails to load, your browser may also send Cloudflare a short error report (Network Error Logging). Your course files are never sent to Cloudflare.
Cloudflare's dashboard shows us traffic totals, such as the number of requests and the countries they come from. We don't use them to identify anyone.
If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to reply and to handle your request. Our email is hosted by Proton.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, for example by adding another ad network or usage statistics, we will update this page before the change goes live.
